Each successful Young Maker will receive a market stall space on Bridgegate central to all the activity of the Christmas light switch on. This offer will include free usage of 3x3m gazebo with sides, up to 2 6ft trestle tables, chairs and support/funding to secure public liability insurance.
About the opportunity
Rotherham’s Christmas Light Switch on returns for the winter season and with it a Children’s Capital of Culture are providing space for young makers to demonstrate what they have to offer! Following last year’s success, the event bringing family activities, performances and a festive atmosphere, promises to provide a great way to start the season.
This project aims to provide young people who are interested in marketing and selling creative products with the opportunity to experience a role within a market space.
Requirements
To apply for this opportunity, you must:
- Be aged 16 to 25 years old
- Live, work or study in Rotherham
- Be available to work on the date of the Christmas Light Switch On (15/11/2025, 3 - 6pm)
- Have sufficient stock to sell to members of the public for the duration of the event.
- Some experience in interacting with the public (this could be through previous markets, work experience or just that you enjoy it as a hobby/personal characteristic!)
Please let us know if you have your own public liability insurance in your application. If you do, that would be handy!
