In the run-up to the Games Trail finale on the 31 October, a series of side quests events will take place in different venues and spaces across the Rotherham borough.

These fun pop-up gaming activities are aimed at children under 11 and their families.

Story Design Workshop by Lauren O’Donoghue

Where: Clifton Park Museum

Monday 27 October from 10:30am until 3:30pm

Lauren O’Donoghue is a writer, game designer and Creative Writing PhD candidate at Lancaster University. Her short fiction has been featured in publications including ergot., Mslexia, and Planet Scumm. This workshop is an introduction to how to use Twine, an open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories. Open to 16 to 18 year olds.

Chiptune Music Workshop by HarleyLikesMusic

When: Tuesday 28 October from 1:30pm until 4:00pm

Harley is an artist and music producer from Sheffield who creates music using the Nintendo Game Boy. Over the past 15 years, they’ve performed at electronic music and retro gaming events all over the world.

In this workshop, you’ll get hands-on with Little Sound DJ (LSDj), a piece of software made for the Game Boy that lets you sequence and control its internal sound chip. You don’t need to know music theory – just bring your curiosity! Open to 16 to 18 year olds.

National Videogame Museum Challenges

Take part in two unique challenges run by the National Videogame Museum. It’s a real-life videogaming adventure for all the family!
