Young Artist in Residence: Visual Arts

Introduction

In 2025 Rotherham has become the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture, designed and delivered by local children and young people aged 0-to-25 – and you can be a part of it, by becoming a Children’s Capital of Culture Young Artist in Residence!

What is a Young Artist in Residence?

Our Young Artist in Residence will be supported to create a brand-new mini exhibition in the Test Space at Clifton Park Museum. Working collaboratively alongside a professional artist, our Young Artist in Residence will be inspired by the Museum’s collection of amazing artworks and objects to create new visual art inspired by the theme of ‘identity’.

During October – December 2025 you and the artist will both work on creating your new artworks inspired by this theme. With lots of support from the Museum and Children’s Capital of Culture teams, you will install your work in the Test Space – including with accompanying interpretation (by which we mean labels, signage, and more!) to help explain the stories and ideas behind it.
